Citation Corp. Wins $200 Million in Contracts to Supply Castings to Akebono
Novi, Mich., December 8, 2008 - Citation Corporation today announced it has been awarded $200 million in new business contracts over five years, to supply Akebono Brake Corporation with ductile iron castings for a variety of new vehicle platforms used by several global automakers.
Production of the cylinder carriers and spider castings brake components, which offer reduced noise, vibration and harshness characteristics, began in September 2008 at Citation’s Brewton, Ala., facility, and will continue launching throughout 2009. The products are being shipped to Akebono’s North American manufacturing plants. Citation estimates 65 million castings will be manufactured over the life of the contract.
