Grede Awarded Quality Certification from Caterpillar
Novi, Mich. – July 20, 2010 - Grede Holdings LLC, a leading manufacturer of high quality cast, machined and assembled components for the transportation and industrial markets, today announced its Bessemer, Ala., facility was awarded a bronze certification from Caterpillar Inc. as part of its Supplier Quality Excellence Program (SQEP). The Grede plant supplies housings, brackets and supports, hubs and elbows for transmission and hydraulic systems used in Caterpillar industrial equipment.
“Our Bessemer facility received the award because it exceeded Caterpillar quality and delivery performance requirements,” said Todd Heavin, Grede’s senior vice president and chief operating officer (COO). “Our focus continues to be on providing value to our customers from initial product design through manufacturing. We’re pleased to receive this award from one of our largest customers. It is evidence that our efforts at all levels of the company are providing benefits to our customers.”
Heavin said the company’s Bessemer plant is the first Grede facility to receive the SQEP certification and the award means the facility will receive preferred status on new business. “We expect to achieve certification at seven more Grede facilities by January, 2011.”
